A Writing Journey

Picture

Stephanie Kekeocha

Author & Spiritual Life Coach

Before Stephanie was a life coach, Christian, mother, wife, or author, she was a writer. Her knack for it began to surface as early as 3rd grade, where she started writing short stories and reading them in class. Over the years, her stories grew to plays, poetry, and a few novels. It wasn't long before she had a solid reputation as a writer among her family, friends, classmates, and teachers. What made her writing unique was its depth, introspection, and
the creative ways in which she depicted the struggles of life at such a young age. Such deep contemplation was always followed by the will, self-reflection, and determination necessary to overcome personal pitfalls and struggles. Her difficult family life couple with the backdrop of Chicago's inner city, provided ample inspiration for the complex stories she wrote and the questions they proposed and attempted to answer about life. The unique voice and perspective that she wrote from was only strengthened in high school and especially college, where she began writing more thought-provoking and controversial non-fiction and essays. Over the years, Stephanie entered several writing competitions, had a few things published, wrote various articles, and attended writing workshops. She had potential in a handful of subjects but felt destined and was always encouraged to be a writer. Unbeknownst to her, one of her college professors even wrote a letter to Oprah on her behalf. Unfortunately, Oprah studios responded that they didn't accept unsolicited materials at that time.
It was no surprise when the depth and questions that arose in her writing eventually lead her to Christ at 19. Trying to understand life from her new Christ-centered perspective is where her writing seemed to find its home finally. The often complicated and challenging journey, as well as the path God lead her down to overcome them, became a key fixture in the pieces she produced. For her, it became clear that her gift for writing was a means by which she was not only equipped with the ability to find answers to her own questions but to share these experiences and lessons she learned with others. In doing so, she  hopes to highlight a path of light in this often dark and confusing world by helping others find the same answers, peace, and healing she discovered and continues to grow in.
"What made her writing unique was its depth, introspection, and the creative ways in which she depicted the struggles of life at such a young age."

Current Works

After college, Stephanie produced a hand made booklet of select poems she had written over ten years and sold them where ever she could. "Speak To The Spirit," which has since been revised and self-published, depicts the struggles many women encounter in their quest for love, God, identity, understanding, and purpose.

Her 2nd publication, "God, Why Am I Not Married? 9 Reasons You Might Still Be Single", was a non-fiction self-help Bible-based book released in 2018. It was written over five years as she often had to put it aside to tend to her growing family and responsibilities. The 300+ page book has since been revised and is now sold as a series. This book also explores the struggles many women experience in their search for companionship, a fulfilling marriage, and the role God plays in them both. Although her books are not widely known, she regularly receives feedback about how insightful, honest, and healing they are, which encourages her to keep pursuing her dreams despite the difficulties and setbacks she encounters doing so.

Stephanie has many other book ideas that she plans to publish in the future, but for now, her children and family remain her primary focus. However, she is passionate about using her books, blog, and coaching to inspire others to ask more profound questions about themselves and their understanding of life, which she believes is the sole doorway to wholeness, happiness, and peace.
